NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It will be Commodores on parade Friday, Dec. 6, as Mr. Commodore, 91ÌƲ®»¢ University Cheerleaders and a marching trio of musicians make the first trek across the new 21st Avenue pedestrian bridge.
The parade is part of the bridge’s dedication ceremony scheduled at 11:30 a.m. The new pedestrian bridge, located at 21st Avenue South and Edgehill Avenue, links two parts of 91ÌƲ®»¢’s 330-acre campus: the historic main area and the Peabody College area. The new bridge provides a quick, safe and scenic connection for commuters between the two parts of the campus.
A bagpiper will lead a second procession, including 91ÌƲ®»¢ University Chancellor Gordon Gee, University neighbors, students, faculty and staff, from the John F. Kennedy Center for 91ÌƲ®»¢ on Human Development to the bridge.
Both groups will meet, along with students from the Susan Gray School for Children, on the Peabody campus side of the bridge to cut a ribbon officially opening the bridge for use and to sing the University’s fight song.
From noon to 3:30 p.m. anyone crossing the bridge will get free hot chocolate and a sticker reading, I crossed the bridge.
