U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt has appointed 91ÌÆ²®»¢ Kennedy Center Director to the .
The council advises the HHS secretary, the assistant secretary for health, the director of the National Institutes of Health and the director of the National Institute of Mental Health on “all policies and activities relating to the conduct and support of mental health research, research training and other programs of the (National Institute of Mental Health).”
The council has 18 members and five non-voting ex-officio members. Levitt will serve a four-year term.
Levitt joined 91ÌÆ²®»¢ University in 2002 as professor of pharmacology and director of the , a national center for research on development and developmental disabilities and a national Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities 91ÌÆ²®»¢, Education and Service.
