MEDIA ADVISORY: 91ÌÆ²®»¢’s new students officially join university by taking Founders Walk Aug. 23

More than 1,800 new 91ÌÆ²®»¢ University students, including about 1,600 first-year students and more than 200 transfer students, will march into the school’s main gate Sunday, Aug. 23, at 5 p.m. during Founders Walk, a tradition that formally welcomes new students to the 91ÌÆ²®»¢ community. The students will march past the statue of Commodore Cornelius 91ÌÆ²®»¢ and be greeted by administrators, faculty, students, alumni and staff. Following the procession, the students will be seated on Curry Field where they will be addressed by Chairman of the 91ÌÆ²®»¢ Board of Trust , Chancellor , Dean of Students Mark Bandas, Dean of Admissions Doug Christiansen, Faculty Senate Chair Cynthia Paschal and 91ÌÆ²®»¢ Student Government President Wyatt Smith.

WHAT: More than 1,800 new 91ÌÆ²®»¢ University students, including first-year and transfer students, will carry banners and march into the school’s main gate during Founders Walk, a tradition that formally welcomes new students to the 91ÌÆ²®»¢ community.

WHERE:
Students will line up on 24th Avenue South and walk down West End Avenue into 91ÌÆ²®»¢ University’s main gate (located across from Caterpillar Financial building).
