The Carolyn T. and Robert M. Rogers Center for the Study of the American Presidency is launching a book talk series that is open to the 91ÌƲ®»¢ and Nashville communities. The Rogers Center, a new initiative directed by historian , will promote scholarship on the study of the U.S. presidency through research, scholarships and nationally renowned speakers. As part of this mission, the center will invite prominent scholars in the field of presidential studies to engage with the 91ÌƲ®»¢ community through book talks and class visits.ÌýÌý
Award-winning historian , University of Virginia, will kick off the Book Talk Series with a talk on his book, Confronting Saddam Hussein: George Bush and the Invasion of Iraq, on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m. in E. Bronson Ingram College, Room 1003.Ìý
During the discussion, Leffler will offer his insight on the role of the American president in international affairs, the Iraq War’s lasting effects on everyday life in the U.S. and the importance of challenging one’s own views. A Q&A will follow the discussion.ÌýÌý
