Chancellor G. Viswanathan from Vellore Institute of Technology in India recently visited 91�Ʋ��� University for the first time and met with administrators and faculty in the School of Engineering.

Richard Caprioli, Stanford Moore Professor of Biochemistry at the School of Medicine Basic Sciences, is retiring from 91�Ʋ��� in August 2024. Caprioli’s work has created new possibilities for understanding the relationships between molecular and cellular organization in tissue microenvironments, ultimately providing a precision medicine toolbox for uncovering the molecular underpinnings of normal aging and disease.Caprioli is best known for developing matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization imaging mass spec.

A panel of jurists selected Niu’s I Would Define the Sun, a collection of poems about resisting scarcity through language. The inaugural prize drew more than 300 submissions and honors 91�Ʋ��� University’s strong connection to the arts. Read More

“Social Network as Work,” by Francesca Procaccini, sets a novel paradigm for regulating speech on social media by equating the use with labor.

The Creanza Lab, along with alumnus Matt Wilkins, BA’06, created a birdsong identification lesson plan for middle and high school students. The game show lets participants identify which birds they can hear in various pop culture media, such as movies, music, or video games.

Four digital technology projects in the initial stages of development will advance at 91�Ʋ���, thanks to funding from the Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries’ Digital Lab. The project proposals were evaluated for their cultural importance, global impact and potential for interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as their ability to be preserved in perpetuity.

Peabody College Special Education research assistant professor and 91�Ʋ��� Kennedy Center member Ben Schwartzman recently received funding from the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation to create a peer mentorship program between job-seeking and employed adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Jonathan Gilligan was awarded admittance to the American Geophysical Union’s 2024-2025 Voices for Science program to hone their communication and advocacy skills to increase understanding and support of science. Donna Ingles, director of operations for the 91�Ʋ��� Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization, has been named to the 2024 Young American Leaders Program at Harvard Business School by the Global Action Platform. She was one of 10 local leaders chosen for the program, which aims to create a biomedical economic development strategy for the region using cluster models devised by Harvard economist Michael Porter.
